In September 2004, Convergence began as a haven for underground electronic dance music and art at the Dinkytowner. Held there every last Friday of the month for over two years, showcasing techno, house, minimal, and downtempo from a myriad of talented locals and notable out of town guests including Daniel Bell, Cabanne, Ryan Elliott, Derek Plaslaiko, Rob Hall, Suz, and Sassmouth. Local artists’ works adorned the walls and offered party goers the unique opportunity to take affordable pieces home with them. Promoter, host, and dj, Jon Hester created a dimly-lit, late night party ritual that lasting into the wee hours thanks to the Dinkytowner’s food menu served until 4 am.
Convergence: The Wild Thing Edition returns to the Dinkytowner with a bang, featuring old friends and new talent from across the Minneapolis spectrum. Local techno DJ stalwart Mike G and resident Jon Hester will be manning the decks following music from rising star Andy Fargo and myself, DJ Real Talk Radio of, you guessed it, Anthem Heart. I’ll be opening the night with party rocking, electro, remixes and old school jams. Anthem Heart has teamed up with VJ Time Squid to create an interactive dance video projection stage show featuring their fashion model/dancers Cocco & Breezy.
